The McGraw-Hill Learning Group has added an impressive new feather to its cap, winning a 2009 Distinguished Achievement Award from the
Association of Educational Publishers. The award, in the category of Best K-5 Science Curriculum program, was presented to SRA/McGraw-Hill for its
Snapshots Simply Science series.
Horizons Companies played a vital, ongoing role throughout the development and execution of this project. From developing the graphic design and layout of the integrated textbook pages and video screens...to conceiving, researching and writing ninety-nine different video scripts...to shooting, editing and creating animations for the videos...and to creating custom music tracks, every single member of Horizons Companies' staff lent his or her expertise to the project. In addition, Horizons also programmed four separate versions of the e-Books for
Snapshots Simply Science, including click-through and auto-run versions of the books both in English and in Spanish.
For Horizons and McGraw-Hill,
Snapshots Simply Science is just the latest in a lengthy list of successful collaborations between the two companies. In the words of McGraw-Hill Learning Group Vice President and Publisher Brad Onken,
“This award speaks volumes for all the hard work and effort that went into building the program.” Added McGraw-Hill Project Leader Jane Flohr,
"Your expertise made it quite special. You invested long hours and went to great pains to produce the kind of program that meets the needs of young learners in a truly engaging way."
