It was 50 years ago that James Edward "Jeg" Coughlin opened his speed shop on E. 11th Avenue in Columbus. He ventured into the retail business because it was difficult getting the parts he needed to work on his race cars. So he ordered extra parts and began selling them to his fellow racers, and an industry giant was born. Five decades later, that inauspicious shop has grown to become one of America's premier providers of high-performance automotive parts and accessories.
To help commemorate Jegs' Golden Anniversary year in 2010, Horizons has produced 50 video vignettes celebrating highlights of the Coughlin family's illustrious racing legacy. Each of Jeg Coughlin's four sons has gone on to claim national victories in a variety of drag racing classes...and now his grandchildren - the next generation of TeamJegs racers - have begun to claim wins in national events.
